Trade Journal
Record trades in your browser with entry, exit, size, setup and notes, and export the log as JSON or CSV. No account, nothing uploaded.

A journal is the only way to find out what a strategy actually does, as opposed to what it felt like it did. Memory is unreliable in a specific and predictable direction: winners are remembered clearly, losses are compressed, and the trades taken outside the plan tend not to be recalled at all.
This journal stores everything in your browser using IndexedDB. There is no account, no sign-up and no server - the data never leaves the machine, which is also why nobody but you can recover it. Export regularly, and the export is a plain file you own.
How to use the trade journal
- Add a trade with its date, symbol, direction, entry, exit, size and the setup you were trading.
- Note whether the trade followed your plan - that field is usually the most valuable one in the log.
- Review the running statistics as entries accumulate.
- Export to JSON or CSV regularly, and keep the file somewhere backed up.
What people use this for
- Keeping a private record of every trade without signing up to anything.
- Separating results by setup to see which ones actually work.
- Tracking whether trades followed the plan, independently of whether they won.
- Producing a CSV to analyse in a spreadsheet.
What to record beyond the numbers
Prices and sizes are the easy part and the least informative. The fields that change behaviour are the ones describing the decision: which setup this was, whether it met the criteria, whether it was taken at the planned size, and what was happening when it was entered.
A log of prices tells you the result. A log of decisions tells you the cause, and only the second one can be improved.
Plan adherence is the metric that matters early
A losing trade taken correctly is a good trade. A winning trade taken outside the plan is a problem, because it rewards the behaviour that eventually produces the large loss.
Tracking adherence separately from outcome is what makes that distinction visible. Traders who only record profit and loss have no way to see it at all.
Where the data lives, and what that means
Entries are stored in this browser using IndexedDB. Nothing is transmitted, no account exists, and no copy is held anywhere else. That is the privacy benefit and the entire risk.
Clearing browser data, using private browsing, switching browsers or switching devices will lose the log. The export function exists for exactly that reason and should be used often.
Methodology and assumptions
What this calculator does, and what it deliberately does not do.
- Results are arithmetic on the numbers you enter. Nothing here predicts prices or connects to an exchange, broker or market data feed.
- Nothing you type is transmitted or stored - the calculation runs entirely inside your browser.
This tool is for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute financial or investment advice. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Nothing on this website is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, currency, derivative or digital asset. No price is predicted and no return is promised or implied.
Trading and investing carry the risk of substantial loss, including the loss of your entire capital. Leveraged products can produce losses that exceed your deposit. Tax treatment depends on your jurisdiction and your circumstances.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my data stored?
In this browser, using IndexedDB. It is never uploaded, and there is no account or server holding a copy.
Can I access it from another device?
Not directly. Export to JSON on one device and import it on the other - that is the only route, by design.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
The journal is deleted and cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Export regularly.
Is there a limit on entries?
IndexedDB storage limits depend on the browser and available disk space, and are generous enough that a personal trading log will not approach them.
